the meaning of the verse. The word cannot be separated from the occurrence of ʿōlām elsewhere in the book (1:4, 10; 2:16; 3:14; 9:6; 12:5). It is difficult to believe that hāʿōlām in v 11 could be radically different in meaning from lĕʿôlam “eternal” only three verses later in v 14. Nor can one avoid the immediate contrast between hāʿōlām “eternity” and bĕʿittô “in its time” in v 11.
